GOD'S WORDS -Revealing His Character

As we walk through our 21 day challenge on taming our tongues, we search out a model for our speech. There isn’t a better place to find one than taking a look at what scripture says about God’s Words.

Here are a few for your consideration … feel free to share more.

Both 2 Samuel 22:31 and Proverbs 30:5 –

“The word of God is FLAWLESS.”

Psalm 119:105 –

“Your word is a lamp to my feet

And a light for my path.”

                  God’s words give guidance.

Hebrews 4:12 –

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

                  God’s words are discerning.

Psalm 119: 130 –

                  “The unfolding of your words gives light;

It gives understanding to the simple.”

                  God’s words teach.

Matthew 24:35 –

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away."

God’s words are eternal.

Isaiah 55:10 & 11 –

"As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

So is My word that goes out from My mouth:

It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

God’s words are nourishing … accomplishing the purposes of God without fail, blessing both the one who speaks them and the ones who receive.

God’s words reveal His character, just as our words reveal our character.  Each word we speak does something … both in our life and in the life of the one who is listening.

This post dedicated to the encouragement of all of us who are walking toward tamer tongues …
