2 CORINTHIANS 12: 7- 9
“To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a “thorn in my flesh”, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”.”
WOW! What just happened there?
Most of us are not theologians. We have no special training in doctrines. We haven’t attended a university centered on the study of the Bible. So sometimes we approach the Bible assuming we won’t understand what is written.
NONSENSE!
We can count on understanding God as He speaks through His word not because of our brilliance but because of His promise that His word will not return to Him void … but will accomplish the purpose for which He sent it. ** check out ISAIAH 55:10 – 11
So if God decided to take the time to give His word, then decided to make His word flesh (Jesus) – we better pay attention … even to the hard stuff.
What is the purpose in our initial verse? What does it say to you? Let’s hear what you think about great revelations, thorns, grace, His power, perfection and our weakness.
Come on – let’s talk – what is God’s purpose that He sent this verse out in our midst to accomplish????
